The 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards have come and gone, and Game of Thrones did very well. Sure, none of the actors picked up an award, not even Kit Harington, who was a favorite to win Outstanding Supporting Actor. Still, “Battle of the Bastards” picked up awards for both Outstanding Writing (David Benioff and Dan Weiss) and Outstanding Directing (Miguel Sapochnik). Plus, the show picked up the night’s biggest award for the second year in a row: Outstanding Drama Series. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a run.

Tons of cast and crew members took the stage, including George R.R. Martin. Benioff spoke for the group:

"We’re standing up here because we have the producers in the business, led by Bernie Caulfield, Chris Newman, Frank Doelger, Lisa McAtackney, Bryan Cogman. We have the best cast that’s, I think ever been assembled, from Wales, from England, from Ireland, wherever Conleth is, from Scotland, wherever Rory is, and from New Jersey."

Peter Dinklage is the New Jersey-ite, by the way. Weiss then picked up Benioff’s trail.

"We’re standing up here because George Martin created the world that we all now live and play in. We are standing up here because HBO—Richard Plepler, Michael Lombardo—have graciously kept the lights on. And we are standing up here because of the greatest, hardest-working, craziest crew in show business that in a few hours is about to go right back to work in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Thank you, Belfast!"

Benioff went on to to thank crew members from the armorer to the horse mistress. “We are lucky as hell to work with the best,” he said. Indeed they are.

Incidentally, after tonight, Game of Thrones has earned a total of 38 Emmys. It’s already become the most decorated drama in Emmy history. Now, it’s become the most decorated primetime scripted show ever, surpassing Frasier, which earned 37 Emmys during its 11 years on the air. Looking to the future, there’s a good chance it could become the most decorated television show in Emmy history by the time it ends in two years. That record is currently held by Saturday Night Live, which has collected 48 Emmys during its 41 years on the air.

Congratulations to all the winners, all the nominees, and everyone who worked on Game of Thrones Season 6, and on the show in general. Y’all should be proud.
