Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) teases character reunions in Game of Thrones Season 7

As filming on Game of Thrones Season 7 continues, one thing is becoming clear: the world is shrinking. Characters long separated by distance are coming together, which means that characters who haven’t seen each other in a long time can reunite, and ones who have never met can get to know each other.

We saw this in Season 6, when Jon and Sansa reunited after seasons apart (technically, they never shared a scene together before, but whatever), or when Tyrion Lannister and Theon Greyjoy saw each other again in “Battle of the Bastards.” So when Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) teases more reunions in Game of Thrones Season 7, it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Speaking to Variety at the Emmy Awards (the gift that keeps on giving), Coster-Waldau talked about that Jon and Sansa reunion, and said to expect more of the same in Season 7:

"We started seeing it in Season 6; characters that met in the first episode of Season 1 are now meeting again and you’re going to see that start happening more."

It makes perfect sense for characters to cross each other’s pather again in Season 7. Personally, I’m excitedly awaiting a reunion between Tyrion and Jaime, or even Tyrion and Bronn/Pod. Also, we have to assume that, at some point, Daenerys will come face to face with the HQIC (Head Queen in Charge), Cersei Lannister. And boy, won’t that be fun to watch?

There are many, many possibilities for reunions in Season 7. For instance:

  • Arya could turn toward Winterfell and be reunited with Jon and Sansa.
  • Along those lines, Bran could see his sister and half-brother/cousin again after he heads south of the Wall.
  • Conversely, Arya could cross paths with Melisandre, as the Red Priestess foretold in Season 3.
  • Arya could reunite with the Hound, or Gendry, or even have a tearful reunion with Nymeria, her direwolf. As she hasn’t been in Westeros in a while, the field is particularly rich for her.

The possibilities are wide open for Season 7. And with the story tapering down, Westeros should become a crowded place indeed by Season 8.
