Game of Thrones actors back in Belfast for Season 7, filming in Saintfield continues

Belfast is bursting at the seam with Game of Thrones cast members. After taking a short break to attend, or watch, the 68th Annual Emmy Awards last weekend, they’re all back at work, and popping up all over Instagram, Twitter, and what not. Let’s take a look at some of the latest sightings.

First, Podrick Payne kisses Bran Stark.

Or rather, actor Daniel Portman kisses Isaac Hempstead Wright. Either way, that’s a fun picture. “Boys are back in town.” Indeed they are.

Does Portman and Wright being in the same place mean that Podrick and Bran will share a scene next year? In a word: no. Actors often cross paths in the studio or around time. But at the same time, Podrick will probably make his way back towards Winterfell with Brienne in Season 7. That’s likely where Bran is headed, too, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility.

Next, Emilia Clarke, Jacob Anderson, and Nathalie Emmanuel (Daenerys, Grey Worm, and Missandei) put their game faces on for Season 7.

Like dragons, like people.

Emmanuel took the time to describe what being back on the Game of Thrones set was like after her “first week back at work.” Her story has everything: tea, mothers, emoji pajamas, and drama.

She seems pleased to be back. Naturally, her emoji game is strong.

Around town, fans snapped photos with some of their favorite characters, including Anderson and Hannah Murray (Gilly).

That would be an interesting meeting.

Elsewhere, Sophie Turner is back in the building. Or the city. Whichever.

Maisie Williams wasn’t in Belfast over the weekend, but she was on the island next door: at the Tokyo World Music Festival in Bristol.

Finally, Kit Harington has been seen around town by a couple of sources.

Kit Harington sightings still feel slightly taboo to me, a holdover from the last offseason when everyone was wondering whether Jon Snow was coming back.

Moneyglass is where the show films scenes at Winterfell. Here we go.

One more thing: there’s filming afoot at Saintfield, where the production filmed the Battle of the Bastards for Season 6.

That little tuft of smoke rising from the trees is notable. In Season 6, the production gave off smoke because it was burning those bodies attacked to Bolton crosses. What’s making the smoke now?
