There are more SPOILERS coming out of Spanish-language fansite Los Siete Reinos, which has previously broken exciting news about what’s coming in Season 7. Much of the season will be shot in Spain, so LSR’s proximity to filming areas has been invaluable.
First, a warning: don’t read if you don’t want to know SPOILERS. Still here? Okay.
Let’s start with the milder spoilers. Game of Thrones Season 7 will be filmed, among other places, in and around the city of Seville, specifically at the Royal Shipyards of Seville, at the Ruins of Italica in the town of Santiponce, and possibly at the Alcázar de Seville, the Moorish palace that stood in for the Water Gardens of Dorne in Season 5.

Here’s the news: according to local outlet ABC de Sevilla, the production will film here later than originally planned. At first, producers were planning to shoot in those locations from November 1 and 14. Now, they’re planning to do it late November.
Okay, on to the big stuff. Not long ago, LSR reported that the production would be spending around a month shooting on a private estate near the town of Malpartida, in an area called Las Breñas.
The production is scheduled to shoot there from mid-November to mid-December—expect the landscape to get a bit greener by then.
Anyway, a month is a long time to spend in one area—that’s about how long the production spent filming the Battle of the Bastards for Season 6. The shoot here calls for 500 extras and 100 horses. Going by the casting calls for extras in this area, it sounds like many of them will play Unsullied soldiers, while the horses may point to Dothraki. In short, it looked like the production was getting ready to film a battle featuring Daenerys’ army.
Now, Los Siete Reinos reports that it might not be so much a battle as an ambush. Earlier, the site mentioned that the show would be filming characters passing through Las Breñas riding in wagons and litters. Now, it reports that those vehicles will be filled with goods gathered at a nearby castle (inserted with CGI), and that they’ll be raided by rival troops. The question is: who’s doing the traveling and who’s doing the raiding? And why does the production need a month to shoot that? What else is happening?
There’s another juicy piece of information, about a waterside location called the Barrueco de Arriba, located nearby.
According to “several sources,” the production will film a very interesting scene here: a character will fall into the water and need to be rescued. LSR also reports that a dragon will be involved in the scene. Putting two and two together, it deduces that the person who falls into the water might be Daenerys, and that she might fall off Drogon.
The information is open to interpretation, but that’s an exciting, scary prospect. What might knock her off her perch?
LSR has also heard that “at least one Lannister” will film scenes in these areas. Given the presence of dragons and Unsullied, Tyrion seems a likely candidate. It’s also been told, although it couldn’t confirm this bit, that the conflict will involve Tyrion and one of his siblings.
Lots to speculate about here. You have the floor.
