Doctor Who is Accepting Applications for Script Editor Position
By David Hill
So, you want to be a part of Doctor Who? Well, as it turns out, the BBC is looking for an experienced script editor to join the team.
It is a dream of many Whovians to join the professional Doctor Who team in some aspect. Whether their interest is in writing for the show, or eventually being the Doctor themselves, it is a program that takes hold of one’s imagination and does not let go. After all, who would not want to spend their lives travelling through time and space?
After seeing a few fans of the show go on to make their marks in Doctor Who lore, that dream seems more attainable. Both Steven Moffat and Peter Capaldi grew up as super fans of the program, and managed to live their dreams out as the showrunner and Twelfth Doctor, respectively.
Well, if one wants to potentially follow in their footsteps, this may be the perfect chance. If you happen to be a fan of the show, and have an interest in writing, the BBC is looking for a new experienced script editor. (Incidentally, we are also looking for staff writers, though it is far less lucrative than being a part of Doctor Who itself. If you are interested regardless, apply apply here.)

Working for Doctor Who would certainly be the dream job for one who wanted both an influence on, and an inside look at, the program. After all, as the script editor, you get to not only contribute your ideas, but also get a look at what will happen on the show before anyone else — an upcoming regeneration, or the return of a beloved figure, perhaps? You would be one of the first people to know!
Of course, such a job would certainly have some agreement in place where those secrets would not be able to be divulged. If one spends time around other Whovians, especially if they know of this position, it may be difficult to keep those secrets. But for the chance to see everything unfold, and to become a part of Doctor Who history, it may be well worth it.
