More Game of Thrones actors film scenes at Winterfell, plus another character returns

Not long ago, The Daily Mail published a series of photos showing several Game of Thrones cast members hard at work at Linen Mill Studios near Banbridge, Northern Ireland. Those cast members included Liam Cunningham (Davos), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne), and Daniel Portman (Podrick Payne). Given the mix of actors, odds were that they were shooting interior scenes at Winterfell.

Afterwards, the photographer uploaded additional photos to their Twitter page. These yielded several new pieces of information, including:

Tim McInnerny, the actor who played Lord Robett Glover in Season 6, will return for Season 7.

Actress Megan Parkinson will have a role in Season 7, probably as an as-yet unnamed Northern girl who shares a scene or scenes with several principal actors.

As it ends up, these photos are the gift that keep on giving. Yesterday, the photographer uploaded several more pics. In the newest batch, we can see Gillen in costume as Littleginer, as well as Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane). (Bella “Lyanna Mormont” Ramsey is also very likely around.) Perhaps most interestingly, actor Richard Rycroft is present. You may remember him as Maester Wolkan, the sheepish Bolton maester Ramsay intimidated into lying about Roose Bolton’s death in “Home.” Check him out in the upper left-hand corner of this photo collage.

So Maester Wolkan survived the Battle of the Bastards, then. Maesters theoretically operate independently of the families they serve, so it’s believable that Jon wouldn’t execute him after taking back Winterfell. Besides, Wolkan was probably genuinely relieved to be rid of the Boltons. We didn’t see much of him in Season 6, but he didn’t seem to enjoy working for Ramsay. And really, who can blame him?

Word is that filming is still going on at Linen Mill Studios. Whatever Wolkan and the other characters are talking about in there, it’s taking some time.
