Doctor Who: Matt Lucas’ Likely Reveal of a Writer for Series Ten

Doctor Who actor Matt Lucas may have spilled the beans on Twitter concerning the matter of Jamie Mathieson probably having written an episode for Series Ten.

A week ago, we shared an article about a cryptic statement from Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat regarding the matter of an unnamed writer from the classic years soon rejoining the staff. While Moffat was seemingly being very careful not to divulge any more information about that, Matt Lucas — who plays Nardole on the show — recently tweeted something that is quite likely a preemptive reveal for Series Ten.

The sentiment of adoration was directed at Jamie Mathieson, a writer who has previously written scripts for the revival of the program. While it is not specified in the tweet what Mathieson’s script is for, and he did not respond to Lucas, it is fairly safe to guess under the circumstances that he has written an upcoming episode of Doctor Who.

More from Winter is Coming

To date, Mathieson’s writing credits for Doctor Who are the episodes ‘Mummy on the Orient Express‘ and ‘Flatline‘ from Series Eight, as well as a co-writing credit with Moffat for ‘The Girl Who Died‘ from Series Nine. He also wrote a short story titled ‘My Dad, The Doctor‘ for the October 29th, 2015 edition of the weekly publication First News. His other writing credits include the movies Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel and Alt, and the television series Becoming HumanDirk Gently (2012), Being Human, and Tripped.

Whether Lucas will get in trouble with the powers that be for leaking classified information, or they really do not care, remains to be seen. In any case, we are excited to see what Mathieson has created.
