Westworld Episode 5 “Contrapasso” Preview

This week’s episode of Westworld was particularly intense. Episode 4 had it all, clues, answers, and then even more questions and puzzles.  “Dissonance Theory” really ratcheted up the action and drama and started to bring together all the characters that had been set up in the first three episodes of Westworld. Now with Westworld episode 5 “Contrapasso” we are hoping to learn more about these varied individuals and their motivation.

We are certainly left with some big questions after episode 4. We still don’t really know who the man in black is, though we do know he has a foundation of some sort. We also don’t know if we are seeing two timelines or one, but it’s starting to look more and more likely that it’s one.

This preview of Westworld episode 5 “Contrapasso” looks like we might get resolution to a few of our puzzles, but Westworld’s previews have been misleading in the past.

The encounter between Ford and the man in black looks particularly interesting. Are they going to be adversaries as we all predicted or is there some part of Ford that wants the man in black to succeed in freeing the hosts?

On IMDb there’s already a plot description of Westworld episode 5 “Contrapasso”:

"Dolores, William and Logan reach Pariah, a town built on decadence and transgression, and are recruited for a dangerous mission; The Man in Black meets an unlikely ally in his search to unlock the maze."

It sounds like we are going to see Logan’s black hat adventure get started. The second part might be referencing the man in black and Teddy… or it might mean the man in black and Ford. Is it Sunday night yet?
