Westworld Theory: Where is Westworld located?

The Westworld theory involving the location of the park took a big hit from Elsie’s big discovery in this week’s episode.

SPOILER WARNING: IF YOU AREN’T CAUGHT UP ON WESTWORLD THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS.

In this week’s episode of Westworld Elsie discovered that the woodcutter host who had gone missing and then tried to kill her had a laser-based satellite uplink hidden in his arm. Elsie of course took this information to Bernard, because it clearly means that someone is smuggling technical information out of the park.

The other major implication from this discovery of course is that it turns all those theories on where Westworld is located on their heads. Westworld can’t be located underground or under the ocean now, because what could would a laser-based satellite uplink be in a location like that?

This narrows the possible locations for Westworld down to either on earth, possibly on an island, or on another planet. Westworld on another planet might seem crazy, but we actually think that might be the most likely scenario.

Bernard has said that it’s hard to get a signal to video chat at Westworld, this means the park’s location is remote… very remote. This is the future, and why would a video chat signal be that hard to get anywhere on earth in the future?

We also know from Theresa and Siezmore’s conversation in episode one that the Westworld employees rotate home periodically. Why would you need a rotation system if the location of the park wasn’t very very remote indeed? Again, this is the future, surely a flight home on weekends wouldn’t be out of the question on earth.

Finally there’s the flies. Everything in Westworld is man made, except the guests and the flies. Now Westworld could be on a remote manmade island on earth, but how would you keep birds and insects away? How could flies possibly be the only life anywhere on earth? You’d at least have some birds, rats, roaches, and mosquitos.
