After a lengthy stay in the city of Seville, filming in and near the city has come to end for at least one major Game of Thrones cast member: Emilia Clarke. The Mother of Dragons was seen at an airport heading for parts unknown.
So far as we know, other cast members of the cast—and there were a whole lot of them—are still in the area. Filming at the ruins of Italica is finished, but filming at the city’s Royal Shipyards is still ongoing, if winding down.
Whatever the crew has left to shoot behind those helpfully covered-up windows, it won’t involve Daenerys Targaryen.
And now, some SPOILERS.
Both the ruins of Italica and the Shipyards are standing in for the Dragonpit of King’s Landing. Based on the number and variety of cast members coming and going from Italica—including Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Rory McCann (the Hound), and Clarke herself—it looks like we’re in for a big meeting between the principal players. Maybe Clarke doesn’t need to be around for the remainder of filming because she’s only around for part of the meeting. Maybe they’re getting shots from angles that don’t involve her, or maybe there’s a different meeting at another point between a smaller set of characters.
In any case, where the Clarke go from here? The next big location for filming is near Malpartida, where the production is currently setting up for a major battle.
Word is that the battle will involve at least one dragon. And they do have a smoke machine. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and where there’s fire, there could be dragons, and where there’s dragons, they’re Daenerys.
We’ll see if Clarke turns up in the area. For now, only two actors shown themselves: James Faulkner (Randyll Tarly) and Jerome Flynn (Bronn). Who will join them?
