Tormund Giantsbane films amid snow as HBO tightens security near Trujillo Castle

As filming on Game of Thrones Season 7 winds down in Seville, the production turns its attention to Cáceres province. The most important bits of filming in this area will take place near the town of Malpartida, where the production is setting up for a big confrontation. However, shooting will also happen at the scenic Trujillo Castle, pictured above, and security promises to be tight.

According to Hoy, it already is. The production began to load into the castle earlier this week, and yesterday, there was a security guard that kept people not only from entering the castle itself but also the esplanade in front of it.

All this, and filming hasn’t even begun yet. The shooting date is pegged for either Monday or Tuesday of next week, at which point security will tighten further. On those days, the main square below the castle will also be closed (it’s already being fenced off, according to El Periodico Extramadura), as well as the nearby Calleja del Castillo. Anybody wanting to get a look at what’s going on will have their work cut out for them.

However, some props have already been spotted in the area, such as these wooden carts in the main square.

Those have already drawn the attention of onlookers. We’ll hopefully be able to tell you more once filming begins next week. If everything goes according to plan, the castle will reopen to visitors on Friday, November 18.

Meanwhile, cast members are on the move. Maisie Williams is reportedly leaving Belfast, aka Game of Thrones filming headquarters, while Kit Harington is newly arrived there. And then there’s Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane), who posted a behind-the-scenes pic…of his beard.

Not a ton we can tell from that, although he clearly wants us to know that there’s snow in his beard. Predictably, Tormund will find himself somewhere cold in Season 7.

Finally, Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman revealed how the production honored Veteran’s Day.
