Season 7 pics: A snowy new set goes up at Wolf Hill Quarry near Belfast
By Dan Selcke
Production on Game of Thrones Season 7 is going full speed ahead. Most of it is concentrated in Cáceres, where HBO is filming material at a number of castles and preparing to shoot a huge land battle. But there’s also activity happening near Belfast, long the show’s central hub. Specifically, Watchers on the Wall has a few shots of a set built at Wolf Hill Quarry, a basalt quarry in County Antrim.
The pics are below, but beware: here there be SPOILERS.
Okay, let’s take a look.
The production has blanketed the area in fake snow, and set up a greenscreen in front of a particularly thick patch.
This could stand in for an area in the North. Winter, after all, is here. It seems more likely that we’re looking at somewhere beyond the Wall, though. Thanks to earlier SPOILERS, We know that Jon and company will bring a wight south of the Wall during the coming year. Logic dictates that they’ll have to go north of the Wall to capture the creature. Is this where that scene will happen?
Here’s another picture of the area to the right of the greenscreen.
It looks like an island on a frozen lake, which may ring bells for fans who have been keeping up with purported Season 7 plot leaks.
As of now, there’s no shots of going on in the area. The set may not be finished yet. Still, exciting stuff.
