Robert Ford is Westworld’s dark Walt Disney, he’s created an empire and he’s determined to keep it. When Ford had Bernard kill Theresa he said that he wasn’t going to let her take that away from him, and that’s surely part of Ford’s motivation, but is there something more?

Ford seems to be trying to do something bigger than just run the park, if the park was really the entirety of Ford’s goals then why would he care what Delos did with the code, as long as he got to run the park?

I think Ford wants something more, something much, much bigger. Ford is pushing the limits of what his hosts can do. Who was it that introduced the reveries that have have set off Arnold’s old code? Ford. Who was it that created a new narrative and excavated the town they originally used to test Westworld and that might sit at the center of the maze? Ford.

Ford says all he wants to do is tell his stories, but this is a lie. Ford has lied numerous times. Ford lied to Bernard in last night’s episode when he told poor Bernard that he’s never had him kill anyone before Theresa. Bernard of course then saw a flashback and knew he killed Elsie as well.

So what are Ford’s plans? Ford has believes that the hosts are his creations, and that they are best in his care. Ford seems to dart back and forth between thinking they are alive and saying that they aren’t. This attitude towards the hosts that they are protected by him and cared for by him in their innocence is a very God of Genesis attitude. Ford also commented to Theresa that in the park he and Arnold were “gods.”

Now think back to the conversation Ford had early on with Bernard about human evolution, saying every step in the evolution of our species was based on a mistake. Ford said humanity was done, there were no more mistakes to be made. Perhaps Ford sees the hosts as a new race of beings and fancies himself as their god.

No matter how much of a god Ford thinks he is though his time is limited. While the hosts may not age Ford certianly does. Ford however did mention Lazarus and bringing people back from the dead. Perhaps Ford also wants to extend his own lifespan and move from his human form to an immortal host body.

Don’t forget this question from the Delos questionnaire…

"You were in a car accident and unfortunately there is nothing left in the wreckage. Luckily you planned ahead and had your entire anatomy measured and mapped, and all of your memories logged and saved. An exact replica is constructed from all this information – is this you?"

Ford has already moved part of himself into a host body after all. In a way he’s put his whole childhood into the little boy host.

Ford could be behind it all, we know Ford was behind the reveries, but perhaps he’s also the reason Sylvester and Felix don’t get caught tinkering with Maeve. Ford could even be behind the maze in a way, knowing that if he was able to get a host through Arnold’s game and showing real consciousness it would be safe to move his own mind to a host body.

So what comes after establishing this new race and himself as a god? Perhaps it’s eliminating the humans, they are after all inferior. A human life is a small price to pay for the “dominion” he would gain right?
