A recent article from Revelist suggest that we are all watching Wetworld wrong.

SPOILER WARNING: THIS WESTWORLD POST May CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM RECENT EPISODES OF WESTWORLD. IF YOU AREN’T CAUGHT UP ON WESTWORLD AVOID THIS POST! THIS POST MAY ALSO CONTAINS CONJECTURE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF WESTWORLD, IF YOU DON’T WANT TO HEAR POSSIBLE SPOILERS AVOID THIS POST!

The Revelist has a wonderfully written article on how we all might be watching Westworld all wrong. The basic gist of the article is that by focusing on all the little theories and what ifs we are missing the fun of the show. Instead of talking about it and making theories we should all just watch and be surprised and enjoy the ride. The only problem is that that’s ridiculous.

I’ve heard this argument before, not just about this show, but about a plethora of shows. It’s basically the old you aren’t enjoying this the way I do, so you’re enjoying it wrong argument. The tone of the article is… well to say that it’s snooty might be a understatement.

"As a viewer who believes that now, more than ever, we need to be looking to our fiction to learn how to grow and empathize with one another, I am done with mysteries."

Well that’s fine, I’m not however. If you love they mysteries and the fun of reading all the theories please continue, if you don’t that’s OK too. I don’t really think that “looking to our fiction to learn how to grow and empathize” is going to solve world hunger, but if you do more power to you.

I for one am going to keep watching Westworld and then enjoying talking about the mysteries, and if you think you’d enjoy that too be sure to come back to our site.
