Game of Thrones returning to Dubrovnik to film Season 7?
By Dan Selcke
The Croatian city of Dubrovnik stood in for King’s Landing on Game of Thrones for several seasons. However, in Season 6, the production largely moved filming in the city to Spain, and we didn’t expect it to return for Season 7. However, The Dubrovnik Times reports that Embassy Films, a company that has hired extras for the show in the past, has posted a new call for extras on its Facebook page. Is this for Game of Thrones?
"For filming of the TV series we need:– stronger small, age 20+, 173 to 188 cm tall,– female, age 18+, 158 to 173 cm tall.Shooting will take place in Dubrovnik, middle of December."
Note that Embassy only says that this is for a TV series, not for Game of Thrones specifically. The call is ambiguous, but it’s very possible that this is Game of Thrones-related. We didn’t think HBO would film in Dubrovnik for Season 6, either, but it made a surprise stopover to film a scene for the season premiere: the one where Cersei waits for Mrycella on a beach. This was the same area where it filmed Mrycella leaving King’s Landing back in Season 2. Perhaps HBO needs to film in a distinctive locale again.
Also, the time frame matches. In any case, Embassy Films had no comment, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more.
