What twists might be in store for us as we come to the Westworld season finale?

SPOILER WARNING: THIS WESTWORLD POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM RECENT EPISODES OF WESTWORLD. IF YOU AREN’T CAUGHT UP ON WESTWORLD AVOID THIS POST! THIS POST MAY ALSO CONTAINS CONJECTURE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF WESTWORLD, IF YOU DON’T WANT TO HEAR POSSIBLE WESTWORLD SPOILERS AVOID THIS POST!

The final episode of Westworld season 1 is called “The Bicameral Mind.” You may recall that Ford said the bicameral mind theory was what Arnold based his ideas for host sentience on.

Here’s how Wikipedia describes bicameralism:

"Bicameralism (the philosophy of “two-chamberedness”) is a hypothesis in psychology that argues that the human mind once assumed a state in which cognitive functions were divided between one part of the brain which appears to be “speaking”, and a second part which listens and obeys—a bicameral mind."

The inner monologue that Arnold was going to use to “bootstrap” consciousness in the hosts was their programming. Obviously this went wrong for Arnold in some way because we now know that Dolores ended up killing him. Obviously though the hosts still have that inner monologue because they are hearing Arnold, and have been for thirty years now.

This isn’t going to be a season finale you want to miss!

The details of Ford’s new narrative is one of the biggest pieces of the puzzle we don’t have yet. Obviously this final narrative has some major role in how the final episode of Westworld will play out, but we just don’t have many details about it yet.

Whatever happens you are not going to want to miss next week’s episode.
