Lately, we’ve been talking about the George R.R. Martin Box, a box full of Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire merchandise that Penguin Random House is putting out in time for the holidays. The Box comes in three varieties: the Limited Edition ($200), Special Edition ($75) and Ultra Limited Edition ($600).
The Ultra Limited Edition, which comes with more goodies than either of the other two sets, sold out very quickly—only 200 were made. However, anyone who wants to get their hands on it will have one final chance. Random House donated the George R.R. Martin Box Ultra Limited Edition #001 to the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary in New Mexico. The auction starts today on eBay.
According to Random House’s press release, the Ultra Limited Edition Box contains “a bonded leather-bound version of the 20th Anniversary Collectible Edition of A Game of Thrones signed by author George R.R. Martin, as well as an exclusive t-shirt, a reproduction of Robert Baratheon’s will from the HBO series, an iron coin of the Faceless Man, a Living Language Dothraki online course, A Game of Thrones: The Card Game with an exclusive card, holiday sigil shield lights, exclusive miniatures of Lord Commander Jon Snow and Queen Daenerys, an exclusive Maester’s journal, and a limited edition silk map of King’s Landing.” That’s a lot of swag.
The winner of the auction will be unveiled during the premiere of a film about Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary to be shown at Martin’s Jean Cocteau Cinema in Santa Fe on December 13. Martin has long supported the Sanctuary—he and his wife named five of 10 rescued wolves after the direwolves in his Song of Ice and Fire books, and the other five after characters.
As for Martin himself, he’s currently in Mexico, having attended the Guadalajara International Book Fair. Here he is enjoying some art at a local gallery.
