Season 7 filming continues at Wolf Hill Quarry as cast members travel the world

Right now, the Game of Thrones production is hard at work on two outdoor sets: the snowy set set built at Wolf Hill Quarry near Belfast and the waterlogged Barreuco de Arriba in Spain. Let’s check in on both areas, and bring you some updates as to what other cast members are up to.

BEWARE: SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT

First, let’s hit Wolf Hill Quarry, where the show has constructed a winter wonderland, very likelly standing in for an area beyond the Wall.

We reported on Saturday that Kit Harington (Jon Snow) had shown up on set, complete with grainy photographic proof:

Harington has also been spotted in Belfast proper, so he’s definitely in the area.

Irish Thrones has some additional shots of the set, which is making heavy use of fake snow and fog. Watch it waft off the place.

The production is scheduled to be at Wolf Hill Quarry for a couple of weeks yet, so expect it to show up a lot during Season 7.

Elsewhere, the cast and crew continue to film a massive battle scene at the Barreuco de Arriba near Malpartida in Spain. They’re there through December 10, after which they’ll film a few things in the city of Cáceres. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and Jerome Flynn (Bronn) have been prominent players in the area. There are rumblings that Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) may show up, but no confirmation as yet.

Meanwhile, over on her Instagram feed, Clarke is giving us a preview of the clash to come in Season 7, although it probably won’t get this cozy. Behold Daenerys and Cersei, partying down:

Clarke’s hashtags never get old.

Back in the UK, Sophie Turner (Sansa) hung out at the Winter Wonderland Christmas market in London’s Hyde Park, taking no small number of selfies with fans while she was at it.

Meanwhile, her onscreen sister Maisie Williams (Arya) recently visited the town of Taiji, Japan. Taiji gained attention after being featured in the 2009 documentary The Cove, which chronicled the town’s annual dolphin drive hunt. Williams is there on behalf of the Dolphin Project to protest. She’s been posting videos calling people to action.

And then, in a lighter moment, she fake-proposed to her friend @alexinwonderlust, an animal activist.

It helps to laugh.

Also looking out for animals: Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, aka Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane. He’s created an adorable t-shirt (also available in hoodie and tank-top form) and is donating some of the proceeds to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

Daw.
