Doctor Who Cracks the Top 40 in FanSided’s Fandom 250

Out of the two hundred and fifty popular fandoms in FanSided’s Fandom 250, Doctor Who ranked 39th. Is this a fair determination?

While Doctor Who may be number one in the hearts and minds of many fans of the show, there are virtually countless other fandoms in the world with which it is perpetually vying. We at Doctor Who Watch were excited and proud to learn back in November that our beloved science fiction program was in the running for the top fandom in FanSided’s Fandom 250 – The ultimate ranking of fandoms. The list ranks everything “from sports to entertainment, celebrities to brands.”
Well, today, the final list was revealed, and Doctor Who ranked 39th. All things considered, this is a fairly decent standing. FanSided notes the longevity and multi-generational fan base of Doctor Who as contributing factors to its strong placement on the list, and predicts that this will likely continue well into the future.

And coming in at number one is the Chicago Cubs, who won the 2016 World Series after being an underdog for a whopping one hundred and eight years. Congratulations to the team, as well as all of the other fandoms on the list!
