Fandom 250: Game of Thrones fans crack the top 10 fandoms

Today, FanSided posted its Fandom 250, a ranking of 250 fandoms across the worlds of sports, entertainment, fashion and more. Naturally, Game of Thrones fans are on the list. With their boundless passion for the show and resourcefulness when it comes to sniffing out plot developments, there was never any doubt of that. But where do they rank?

Quite high, as it turns out. The Top 10 is full of high-powered fandoms, including those for Harry Potter, The Walking Dead, and the Dallas Cowboys. The Game of Thrones fandom best them all. From the entry:

"Throughout its run, GoT fans have been ingenious in the way they’ve poured over every scrap of information for clues about what will happen in the upcoming season. They’ve visited the locations where the show is shot, taken pictures of filming in action and dissected every official image and interview for hints. Sometimes they’ve been criticized for ruining the show for themselves, but it’s more that they love Game of Thrones so much they can’t bear to go without it for months on end…Game of Thrones is a show that rewards close study, and fans love learning everything they can about the characters and their world. It just makes the experience of watching (and then discussing) every new episode more satisfying."

Unfortunately, the Game of Thrones fandom didn’t rank at #1, probably due to some kind of massive conspiracy. Fandoms for Beyoncé, Star Wars, and the Chicago Cubs received the third, second, and first place spots respectively. This will not stand.
