Two pieces of modern “A.I.” locked in a loop
An internet mastermind decided to have some fun with his Google Home and Amazon Echo and locked them into a loop.
Obviously we don’t have the type of artificial intelligence that appears in Westworld today, but we do interact with some form of A.I. everyday. Whether it’s Pandora predicting what kind of music you might like or a smart car A.I. is all around us.
One particular piece of A.I. continues to get more and more prevalent, virtual assistants. It started with Siri on your phone, but has now moved into the home with Google Home and Amazon Echo. Now Echo and Google Home are very basic forms of artificial intelligence., they are mostly used for checking the weather or finding a movie time, but they are A.I. nevertheless. So one internet mastermind decided to lock them into a loop using their calendar function.
Check out modern A.I. locked in a loop.
Hopefully this doesn’t cause a critical failure.
Of course these loops aren’t the same thing as Dolores’ humble little loop, but it is a loop. It’s an interesting real world example of where artificial intelligence differentiates from human intelligence. You could never get two human assistants to lock into a loop like this, but it’s of course easily accomplished with A.I.
We are a long way off from having a Westworld situation on our hands, but artificial intelligence is a reality and it’s only going to get better. Will it really be all that long until we find ourselves questioning the morality of A.I.?
This is hilarious, but also might drive you crazy if you think about it too much. It’s probably better to just say “that doesn’t look like anything to me” and move on.
