Peter Dinklage and David Benioff broadcast from the Season 7 set

We’ve got a few minor filming updates for you today, starting with a video from Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff and star Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), filmed right on the Season 7 set. The two of them are congratulating screenwriters Aaron and Jordan Kandell for getting their screenplay, Adrift, onto the Blacklist, which is made up of popular screenplays that for whatever reason have yet to be made into motion pictures. The idea is to get those screenplays extra exposure in the hopes that interested filmmakers will produce them.

Anyway, the video:

“Hi, I’m Keith Harrington.” Oh, Peter Dinklage, you cutup.

SPOILERS beyond this point:

There are some interesting things to note here. Dinklage is clearly is costume, and appears to be wearing a darker version of the doublet he was sporting when we last saw Tyrion in “The Winds of Winter.” Also note the Hand of the King pin on his breast. Dany hasn’t fired him. It’s not 100% clear where these two are filming this, but the landscape looks they’re at Los Barruecos, where the show recently wrapped shooting on a massive action sequence.

In summary form, the action scene involves the Lannisters marching home to King’s Landing after looting Highgarden. Daenerys and her Dothraki horde ambush them along the way, and there’s a big battle that will take up a solid chunk of Episode 4. (Click here for more details.) If Dinklage was at Los Barruecos, he’ll likely be a part of that scene, too, although probably not in the thick of battle. We’re betting he shows up at the end, after Daenerys has won and there’re punishments to dole out.

We’ve seen pics of Dinklage in the city of Cáceres already, but we weren’t sure if he was there to film material at the nearby Barrueco de Arriba, or if he was going to stick around until December 14 and 15, when the show will shoot a couple of scenes in the city itself. This video seems to confirm that he’ll at least appear in the scene at Los Barruecos.

Speaking of filming in Cáceres, there are a few more photos of the place popping up on the net, courtesy of @javiborrega.

With the awnings and the carts and the handsome arches, there’s little doubt that the production is dressing Cáceres to stand in for King’s Landing. The Lannister flags are kind of a dead giveaway, too.

@javiborrega also had this intriguing nugget:

Snow in King’s Landing? It’s not conclusive, but winter has come to Westeros, and snow did fall on the city at the end of A Dance with Dragons

Here’s one more thing to file under the “intrigue” column: one fan thinks he’s spied a new Game of Thrones set going up in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Game of Thrones used Dubrovnik to stand in for King’s Landing for many years, but eased off in Season 6. Embassy Films, a company that’s hired extras for Game of Thrones in the past, put up a new casting call two weeks ago for a mid-December shoot in Dubrovnik, but there was no guarantee that shoot involved Thrones. Well, we’re coming up on the middle of December, so whatever this set is for, there will likely be filming activity there soon.
