One of the biggest teasers from the season finale of Westworld was our peak at a samurai themed world that the internet has dubbed “Samuraiworld.” The tease at another world beyond just Westworld was intriguing, but the series showrunners have said that we won’t be seeing too much of this or other possible worlds. Westworld is, at least for season 2, going to continue to focus on Westworld.
The slueths over in the Westworld subreddit never rest though and when HBO bought the domains for exploresamuraiworld.com and exploreshogunworld.com it didn’t take long for the internet to find out. The who.is data doesn’t lie.
The explorewestworld.com website has played a fascinating and unique role in the show. From the terms and conditions and speaking to a host called Aeden to the meltdown the site suffered after the Westworld season finale, Westworld’s interactive web presence has been groundbreaking. So could exploresamuraiworld.com and exploreshogunworld.com mean we will see more intriguing show and web ties?
It’s certianly possible that this is the case, of course it could also be that HBO just doesn’t want someone else snatching up the domains. We will just have to wait and see if this is an omen of things to come, or just a business decision.
