Game of Thrones loses the Best Drama Golden Globe to The Crown

Well, that’s that. Game of Thrones Season 6 was nominated for the most prestigious TV-related award at tonight’s 74th Annual Golden Globes Awards: the Best Drama Award. And then it lost to Netflix’s The Crown.

Here’s what the field looked like:

• Game Of Thrones (HBO)
• Stranger Things (Netflix)
• This Is Us (NBC)
• Westworld (HBO)

Game of Thrones was nominated for a Golden Globe in this category after its first season. Then it took a couple of years off, and has been nominated every year since Season 4. It’s never won. After holding out for several years, the Emmys have given Game of Thrones the Best Drama award for both Seasons 5 and 6. Not so at the Golden Globes.

The show still has a couple of chances to pick up a Best Drama Golden Globe after Seasons 7 and 8.
