Fresh from appearances at the BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party and the Golden Globes, Sophie Turner joined fellow Brit Dominic Cooper (Preacher) this morning to announce the nominations for the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Awards, which honor the best in British filmmaking from the past year…although there area lot of American-made films in there.

Roll the video.

Announcing nominations is a nice feather in Turner’s cap. Who knows? Maybe she’ll be announcing the Oscar noms before long.

The 2017 BAFTA Awards show will be held at the Royal Albert Hall on February 12. The ceremony will be broadcast on BBC One.

Moving on, TVGuide spoke to Rose Leslie (Ygritte) about her new series The Good Fight, but managed to sneak in a question about whether Jon Snow would make a good king of Westeros while it was at it. Her response:

“I would say he’s definitely tough enough. I think that he’s incredibly just, and that he would make a brilliant king.” But then again, Leslie admits that she’s biased, having dated Harington both onscreen as Ygritte and in real life as…uh, herself.

Finally, here’s a weird story: recently, several members of the Game of Thrones cast—including Alfie Allen, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams—just turned up at British crooner Ed Sheeran’s house in the middle of the night and he played them songs off his new album. Said the singer:

"It was quite a weird night because there was a party going on … and I got back to [my house] at 2, and then I just got a text being like, ‘Oh, the party’s over. Can we come to yours?’ and I was just about to go to bed, and I was like ‘Oh, alright. Whatever.’ And then all of them turned up and it was really surreal."

Ah, Hollywood life. Anyway, we note that Ed Sheeran is a big fan who’s lobbied to get a role on Game of Thrones in the past, which might explain how he knows the cast members.
