Iain Glen (Jorah) spotted in new filming location as Season 7 shooting continues

Filming on Game of Thrones Season 7 in the new year is off and runnings. Please exit the post now if wish to avoid SPOILERS.

A few days ago, several members of the Game of Thrones costume department showed up at the the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon in Iceland, the country where the show filmed scenes beyond the Wall in Seasons 2 and 3. In short order, several cast members turned up in the area, too, including Joe Dempsie (Gendry), Paul Kaye (Thoros of Myr) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow). All of that lined up with previous SPOILERS that a group of characters would go north of the Wall late in the season (probably in Episode 6, the penultimate episode), where they’d run into trouble.

Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) had been spotted in Iceland, as well, but there wasn’t any photographic proof of his presence until now.

So Jorah will be part of this mission beyond the Wall. That’ll mark his return to somewhere near the place of his birth—recall that he’s a Mormont of Bear Island, but was banished to Essos for slave-trading before the series began. According to the SPOILERS mentioned above, Beric Dondarrion and the Hound will be part of this team, too, so we’ll be on the lookout for actors Richard Dormer and Rory McCann.*

Elsewhere in Iceland, a fan snapped a picture of filming going on near the Svínafellsjökull glacier.

There are several people in costume near the center of that shot, but it’s hard to tell who exactly they are. According to this tweet, Kit Harington is likely among them, which is to be expected.

We’ll look forward to seeing these beautiful locations up on the screen.

*Recall that the Hound joined up with Beric and Thoros in Season 6, so it makes sense that the newly staffed-up Brotherhood Without Banners would be sticking together.
