A Doctor Who animated classic, “The Power Of The Daleks” is now available in color, and you can watch it anytime you like.

Many of you already scooped up the animated black and white version of the classic “Power Of The Daleks” when it became available last November. If that was the big news then, you’ll be happy to know that a full colorized version is now available and super handy to watch anytime you want.

Lost for 50 years, the regenerated, hand-drawn classic was released November 5th, 2016 at 5:50 PM. That’s the exact time of the original, and one and only broadcast.  The color version was released December 31st, and is now in the BBC America app.

The 6-part series picks up immediately after the first regeneration. The new Time Lord and his companions, Polly (Anneke Wills) and Ben (Michael Craze), fight an old enemy on the mysterious planet Vulcan.

The new release also comes with a synchronized, digitally remastered recording of the original 1966 audio. It has been redone by the team behind the successful animation of the lost Dad’s Army episode A Stripe For Frazer.

“The Power Of The Daleks” is the first full story to feature Patrick Troughton as the second Doctor and the season’s post-production was plagued by misfortune. The master tapes of all six episodes were erased in the late 1960s, while the BBC Enterprise copies were destroyed in 1974. Thankfully, the audio was preserved. Animators stepped into fill in the missing pieces of the season, and it has become the sixth season to be converted into an animated feature.

In 1993 a novelization of the season appeared by author John Peel, yet some purists balk at the high page count. The BBC produced the audio for commercial release, first narrated by Tom Baker and then by Anneke Wills.
