Indie band Bastille to cameo in Game of Thrones Season 7?

Cameos are coming. According to Watchers on the Wall, British indie band Bastille may appear in Game of Thrones Season 7.

Per a source on the site, the group recently filmed a scene on a massive, snowy set the production built at Wolf Hill Quarry near Belfast, a set that will play host to an important action scene in Season 7. They were dressed as wildlings, and will appear in the Season 7 finale. That would line up roughly with the band’s comings and goings of late. In a recent interview with VOGUE, frontman Dan Smith said, “We get to check out the set of Game of Thrones soon, which will be wicked.” And if you watch the music video for “Oblivion” above, you’ll notice that Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) features prominently. Clearly, the band members are fans of the show.

If Bastille did turn up in Season 7, it would be far from the first time a band to make a cameo appearance on the show. In the past, members of the rock group Mastadon showed up as wildlings in “Hardhome”…

…Sigur Rós played “The Rains of Castamere” at Joffrey’s wedding…

…Icelandic band Of Monsters and Men played Braavosi musicians during that play Arya watched…

…Snow Patrol lead vocalist Gary Lightbody sung “The Bear and the Maiden Fair” in Season 3…

…and perhaps most notably, Coldplay drummer Will Champion performed at the Red Wedding.

You know what? Given all this history, we’d be surprised if Bastille didn’t turn up in Game of Thrones Season 7. And as the clips above show, the producers are pretty good at slipping in these cameos in a way that doesn’t intrude on the drama.

Still, whatever band may or may not show up in Season 7, it’ll be hard-pressed to generate more buzz than UFC firebrand Conor McGregor, who will appear in a cameo role at some point during the year.
