Gallifrey One is only weeks away, but they have some pretty exciting events lined up and are promising to reveal even more by the weekend.
The longest running North American, fan-run Doctor Who convention, Gallifrey One, is celebrating 28 years in 2017 and it’s looking like it’s going to be a big one.
Gallifrey One was founded in 1989 by a group of active fans in the Los Angeles area. The con has staged an event every year since, almost always in February, and has become the leading Doctor Who event in America. It is decidedly devoted “to the Doctor Who classic and new television series, and its spinoffs, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.”
In an update released earlier in the week, the folks at Gallifrey One: 28 Years Later, are teasing some pretty cool stuff. They’ve scheduled some fun celebrities this year, as well. The 28 year celebration welcomes Catrin Stewart, known as Jenny Flint, Madame Vestra’s wife, and Deep Roy, known to fans as Mr. Sin.

In addition to these stars, organizers promise, ” we are still working on a couple very last minute guest additions to join what we feel is the best lineup of Doctor Who performers at any convention around, and we have amazing stuff for all Doctor Who fans, no matter which era of the show you follow.”
This event is not only the longest running Doctor Who convention, but also the largest. It has one of the most comprehensive selection of events, interviews, panels, and Q & A sessions of practically any other single-fandom con in recent history. Gallifrey One: 28 Years later will take place February 17-19 at the Los Angeles Marriott, and is already promising to be a banner year.
Aside from the celebrity presence, there’s gonna be a lot fun activities for fans of Doctor Who and it’s affiliated universes. There’s a kickoff party, art exhibits, podcasts, a huge charity auction, and a masquerade ball.
