Former Game of Thrones actress, Gemma Whelan is hinting that she might want to be the Thirteenth Doctor, and we solidly support her campaign.
Gemma Whelan is throwing her hat in the ring for Thirteenth Doctor. She is best known to American audiences for her role in Game of Thrones‘ as Yara Greyjoy.
Although Peter Capaldi’s announcement about leaving Doctor Who is barely even cold, everyone is having feelings about who the new Doctor should be. Celebs and fans alike are speculating (and campaigning hard) for the Thirteenth Doctor. Whelan took to Twitter with a low-key acceptance of the role.
She responded to fans who suggested she be considered on Twitter.
Fans are growing very weary with the casting of a straight white man over and over. This could be just the thing to breath new life into the series.
Gemma Whelan is a total triple threat – an actress, a comedian, and a dancer. She won the Funny Women Variety Award for stand-up comedy in 2010. And performs under the pseudonym, Chastity Butterworth. She recorded a pilot for a BBC Radio 4 talk show called “The Chastity Butterworth Show” 2014.
Whelan is also an accomplished dancer, specializing in tap and jazz. This makes her all the more hirable as the new Doctor, in my humble opinion. Jazz hands always come in handy. She’s also member of the dance London-based troupe The Beaux Belles, and trained in the musical theatre, as well.

Wouldn’t it be fun if the Thirteenth Doctor was something other than a white man, but also did a little dance routine and broke out into song every now and then? If Gemma Whelan gets her way, the Doctor’s only talents wouldn’t be merely time travel.
