David Tennant Reacts To Surprise Recognition and It’s The Best

Just try and not feel something when you watch David Tennant get surprised by a special recognition at the National Television Awards.

David Tennant is really the cutest, and I’m not afraid to say he might be my favorite Doctor, ever. Please don’t send angry emails.  I’m not alone in my admiration. The National Television Awards agrees, and gave him a special recognition at their 2015 ceremony. His reaction to the recognition was surprising and downright poignant. In fact, he was more amazed than anyone.

Watch as he slowly realizes the clip he’s watching is for him, and then dare your heart not to melt as you see his surprise turn to emotional humility. He seems both shocked and moved all at once, and now we are too.

He watched as co-stars, past and present, extolled his virtues, and his genuine bewilderment made the moment really great television – which is probably why we’re still talking about it two years later.

He said in his acceptance speech, “Anyone who’s ever given me a shot, thank you very much and anyone who’s ever let me into their living room on the telly, it’s a real honour and a privilege to get to do that, so thank you.”

The National Television Awards (often shortened to NTAs) is a  an awards ceremony broadcast in Britain. It’s aired on the ITV network and was initiated in 1995. The National Television Awards is equivocal to the American Emmys, however the results are voted on by the general public.
