The Bay Area Renaissance Festival is hosting A Doctor Who event, The Timey Wimey invasion. Now all your cosplay dreams are coming true.
The Bay Area Renaissance Festival is calling all cosplayers and Doctor Who fans for their annual event next month. The even takes place March 11th and 12th from 10 am to 6 pm, and will fall smack in the middle of the “Time Traveler’s” weekend. A fitting pairing since Doctor Who fans know all about defying the limits of time and space.
The Festival promises all sorts of Medieval fun, but Whovians, particularly, are in for good times. The weekend includes a costume contest, the Tampa Bay area TARDIS, and the Time Travelers Ball, featuring music, dancing, trivia, and food.
The event is partnering with The Whovian order, the The Bay Area Renaissance Festival, and the Tampa Bay TARDIS. This means lots of like-minded folks, plenty of fun photo ops, and experiences you’ll be talking about for years.
The costume contest starts at noon on both days, and the official site has this to say, “Cosplay is highly encouraged, but not required (well actually, it is required if you want to participate in the costume contest). So grab your sonic screwdriver and join your fellow Time Travelers at the festival!”
Once you’ve spent the day mingling with other Doctor Who enthusiasts, you can make your way to the Time Traveler’s Ball. It’s “a mixture of Steampunk, Doctor Who, Cyberpunk, other time travel, Dieselpunk, sci-fi, and costuming from any time period past, present, or future . . . with energetic entertainment from bands, dancers, and sideshow acts.”
