New Doctor Who showrunner, Chris Chibnall gets the seal of approval from former Doctor David Tenant. All is well in the Whoniverse.
It might not be such a surprise that David Tennant endorses new Doctor Who showrunner, Chris Chibnall. They’ve been doing really good work together on the award winning Broadchurch.
In fact, Tennant is going public with his Chibnall love. He told Digital Spy that he was, “possibly the only choice” to replace the current Steven Moffat.
Tennant is confident that series will still be the same iconic shot we know and love. “I think it was an inevitability that the world would turn to Chris,” said Tennant. “It’s a big, massive, difficult job and it needs someone who is as enthusiastic and talented as Chris.”
Tennant and Chibnall have worked together for two seasons on Broadchurch. Chris Chibnall created and produced the show which Tennant is the star. Although Broadchurch is losing it’s showrunner, Tennant is happy to see Chibnall take over for Moffat.
He remarks, “It’ll go from strength to strength. It’s nice to know it’s in safe hands, because it’s such a prized property.”
Moffat’s last season coincides with the last season of the current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, so the show is headed for some major changes in the upcoming months. Aside from the wild and intense speculation about who will reprise the role once Capaldi departs, there are also a lot of rumors about what direction in which Chibnall is going to take the show.
