John Hurt made one last appearance as the War Doctor in a new series for Doctor Who audio dramas and the trailer is here.
The late John Hurt recorded his final role in the Doctor Who audio drama, “Casualties of War” before he died earlier this year. Big Finish, the production company behind the popular audio series, has just released the trailer.
“Casualties of War” is a new three-part series of Doctor Who audio dramas which features Hurt reprising his role as the War Doctor. He performs alongside Louise Jameson, who you might recognize as the fourth Doctor’s companion, Leela, from the1970s.
Jameson will again play Leela for the new dramas. In the newest episode, Leela will team up with the War Doctor to confront fans’ favorite villains, the Daleks.
You can watch “Casualties of War” on the Big Finish website currently, but it isn’t be available for general release until April 30th, 2017.
We first met John Hurt when he appeared in Doctor Who as the War Doctor for the show’s 50th anniversary special. He continued to play this role in the spin-off audio drama series.
He also completed a film before his death. He will appear as a dying screenwriter in the upcoming film That Good Night. It is the story of Ralph, ” a once-famous screenwriter, is in his seventies and terminally ill. He has two final missions: to be reconciled to his son, Michael, and, secretly, to ensure he is not a burden to his wife, Anna, as he goes ‘into that good night.'”

John Hurt was a respected actor with a variety of parts under his belt. Although we miss will miss his presence in the Whoniverse, we can still appreciate his body of work. He was a multi-talented performer whose talents ranged from comedy, to drama, to science fiction.
