The trailer for the DuckTales reboot is here, and David Tennant proves he’s the greatest Scrooge McDuck that there ever was or will be.
You might think David Tennant has only been busy with Broadchurch of late, but he’s starring in the new DisneyXD reboot of DuckTales, and it’s pretty freaking awesome.
Readers of a certain generation will remember the original Ducktales from our Saturday morning catalogue, but the animated favorite is getting a makeover, to include the voice of the tenth Doctor.
Disney released the trailer for the updated Ducktales this week, and it’s a damn delight. Tennant voices the role of Scrooge McDuck, the “bajillionaire” tycoon who takes in his great-nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Scrooge is uncle to Donald, and this new series reimagines Scrooge as “smarter than the smarties, and tougher than the toughies.”
For that matter, in this updated version, Donald has evolved into “one of the most daring adventurers of all time.” The trailer promises a series full of adventure and hijinks, and the Scottish drawl of David Tennant.
Entertainment Weekly reported last year that the series would mostly like feature a lot of our favorite characters, including Webigail “Webby” Vanderquack, the granddaughter of Scrooge’s maid, Mrs. Beakley. As you can see in the trailer, Launchpad McQuack will also return.
The hotly anticipated show has already received a green-light for a second season, even though an official premiere date has yet to be announced.
“Fans around the world are eager and we’re looking forward to introducing viewers to the all-new DuckTales,” Marc Buhaj, Disney XD boss told Deadline. “This early season two order is a testament to the quality work the creative team, led by Matt and Frank, and the cast are delivering.”

Ducktales won and Emmy in 1990, but was a fan favorite for the entirety of its run. The reboot promises to be just as entertaining, and the addition of David Tennant’s Scottish Brogue is just a perk.
