A Doctor Who Episode Gets The RiffTrax Treatment, And It Looks Pretty Amazing

This Doctor Who episode, The Five Doctors is getting the RiffTrax live treatment, and it’s bound to be the funniest thing you’ve seen in a while.

If you’re a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, then you’re going to love what the folks over at RiffTrax is doing to this famous Doctor Who episode.

RiffTrax are “hilarious commentaries that you play along with a DVD using our new auto-syncing app, or are merged with movies and classic shorts that you can watch as on-demand streaming video.”

This summer, they’re taking on “The Five Doctors” in their series which “does semi-regular, in-theater special events we call RIFFTRAX LIVE! These events are filmed in front of a live audience and simulcast to over 700 cinema screens all over the country with our partner Fathom Events.”

Their take on one of the biggest, most notorious Doctor Who episodes is bound to be epic, and here they are telling IGN all about the upcoming event:

The RiffTrax crew,Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett,are teaming with BBC America and Fathom Events to present “The Five Doctors” August 17th and August 24th. “The Five Doctors” aired in 1983 and was produced to commemorate the 20th anniversary of teh episode. It features several incarnations of the Doctors, who join forces to fight A Time Lord Traitor, Daleks, Cybermen, and Yet. The Time Lord Traitor is using the Doctor’s prior selves to mine ancient secrets about the first ruler of Gallifrey, Rassilon.
