‘Doctor Who’ Preview: What Does ‘Thin Ice’ Have In Store For Us?

What exactly do we know already about the episode Thin Ice?

Last episode, we got a brief look at what was to come as Bill stepped out of the TARDIS and into…The Thames? The empty Thames? Since then, there have been promo pictures flying around from the two in Victorian clothing to space suits. It’s safe to say that Thin Ice is going to be full of twists and turns that we can’t expect.

More from Winter is Coming

According to the BBC, the episode, written by Sarah Dollard (a woman!) is about as follows:

"London, 1814. The entire city has turned out for the biggest Frost Fair in decades! But beneath the frozen Thames, revelers are disappearing, snatched through the ice. Pulled into the depths where a terrifying monster lurks. Will the Doctor and Bill stop the slaughter before they too are dragged into the icy waters?"

What does this Thin Ice teaser commercial show us?

We’re back in Victorian times where the Doctor first regenerated and are running to fix a dangerous time. Except for the sad lack of Strax, Jenny, and Madame Vastra, this looks like just the kind of episode we’d expect for the twelfth doctor.

(It doesn’t hurt that this episode is written by a woman, but that’s for another post.)

BBC America has released two teaser/commercial trailers for the episode that might give us a better look at what to expect. Let’s check them out.

So in this teaser, we have adventureadventureadventure, ending with the question that The Doctor hates to answer.

Have you ever killed anyone?

Get out your tissues kids, cause it’s gonna be time to talk about the Time War. (Unless 12 is 12 and literally runs away from the question.)

Okay. Well, that was something. WHERE DID THEY GO?

I guess if a teaser doesn’t make you use bold, capitals, and italics, it’s not a very good teaser. I am a little upset they traded in the classic orange suit from 10 and 11’s time.
