The 25th Annual MTV Movie and TV Awards (formerly the MTV Movie Awards) aired yesterday, and Game of Thrones was nominated in three different categories. Unfortunately, it lost out in all three.

The biggest honor of the night, Show of the Year, went to longtime Game of Thrones award nemesis Stranger Things.

Show of the Year

  • Stranger Things (WINNER)
    Atlanta
    Game of Thrones
    Insecure
    Pretty Little Liars
    This Is Us

Stranger Things also secured the win for Best Actor in a Show, with Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) taking it out from under Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), the only actor on the docket representing Game of Thrones.

Best actor in a show

  • Millie Bobby Brown – “Stranger Things” (WINNER)
  • Donald Glover – Atlanta
  • Emilia Clarke – Game of Thrones
  • Gina Rodriguez – Jane the Virgin
  • Jeffrey Dean Morgan – The Walking Dead
  • Mandy Moore – This Is Us

Emilia Clarke also made an appearance in the Tearjerker category for her work in Me Before You. Hodor’s death from The Door was in the mix as well, but neither won the night.

Tearjerker

  • This Is Us – Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Randall (Lonnie Chavis) at karate (WINNER)
  • Game of Thrones – Hodor’s (Kristian Nairn) Death
  • Grey’s Anatomy – Meredith tells her children about Derek’s death (Ellen Pompeo)
  • Me Before You – Will (Sam Claflin) tells Louisa (Emilia Clarke) he can’t stay with her
  • Moonlight – Paula (Naomie Harris) tells Chiron (Trevante Rhodes) that she loves him

Apparently MTV viewers have no love for Clarke or Game of Thrones. The nominees are chosen by MTV itself, but the winners are decided by the fans in an online voting process. Perhaps season 7 will be Game of Thrones’ year.
