And the info about Game of Thrones season 7 just keeps pouring in. We’ve had exciting new photos and a terrific photoshoot showing the Stark kids all grown up and together again — and oh yeah, the official season 7 trailer dropped, too. Now, HBO has quietly uploaded another bit of information to its website, revealing that the season 7 premiere will be 59 minutes in length.
Unfortunately, there’s no title to go along with this new bit of info…yet.
The longest episode of the show so far is the season 6 finale (“The Winds of Winter”) — it clocks in at 69 minutes. However, the season 6 premiere (“The Red Woman”) lasts just 50 minutes, which is among the shortest episodes of the series. For comparison’s sake, here are the lengths of the other season premieres. Where does the season 7 premiere fit?
- Season 1 (“Winter is Coming): 62 minutes
- Season 2 (“The North Remembers): 53 minutes
- Season 3 (“Valar Dohaeris”): 55 minutes
- Season 4 (“Two Swords”): 59 minutes
- Season 5 (“The Wars to Come”): 53 minutes
- Season 6 (“The Red Woman”): 50 minutes
- Season 7 premiere: 59 minutes
Season 7 will only have seven episodes as opposed to the usual 10, and the cast and crew have promised a faster pace. What kind of shenanigans can our many characters get up to in just under an hour? We’ll find out when the premiere airs on July 16.
