See the Red Keep made from Legos, Joffrey as a cat poet and a Game of Thrones pop-up bar
Merriam-Webster defines esoteric as something “designed for or understood by the specially initiated alone.” So be it, our specially initiated … we’re digging deep into the Game of Thrones tributaries and back alleys to bring you the absolute best in esoterica.
Everybody knows you can build a lotta cool stuff out of Lego, right? So why not the interior of the Great Hall in the Red Keep? YouTuber Tusserte watched tons of Game of Thrones footage to establish the room dimensions and then spent about 100 man hours digitally designing the room and physically assembling it using about 15,ooo Lego pieces. Interchangeable stained glass windows and columns allows Tusserte to alter his creation according to what the throne room actually looks like on the show at the moment. The clip is topped off with a Lego recreation of his favorite scene: Ned confronting the Lannisters in “You Win or You Die” (S1, Ep7).
Elsewhere, Game of Thrones star Jack Gleeson (Joffrey Baratheon) stopped by Abbey Street in Kilkenny, Ireland and read poetry to a room full of cats. Also he was dressed as a cat, complete with six nipples. Take a look:
So…why is he doing this? Gleeson is a member of the Collapsing Horse theater company, which is the steward of this year’s Cat Laughs comedy festival. Eat your heart out, Ser Pounce.
Finally, the Washingtonian reports that there’s a Game of Thrones pop-up bar coming to Washington, DC. The Drink Company will bring Westeros to three of its DC taverns — Mockingbird Hill, Southern Efficiency and Eat the Rich — from June 21 to August 27.
Different spaces in the bars will represent locations like The Red Keep, the throne room, the Hall of Faces, a northern weirwood tree and a Meereen “fire bar,” all available for you to peruse as you sip ASOIAF-inspired cocktails like The Imp’s Delight, Shame, Dracarys, Dothraquiri, The North Remembers and The Lady Mormont. Ommegang’s line of Game of Thrones beers will be available on draft.

Along with the decor and drinks, there will be even more photo opportunities with House banner displays, a Bolton flayed cross, a “legit” throne, a dragon mural and a “huge” dragon sculpture descending from the ceiling. Sounds like a fun place for a night out. Not for a wedding, though. Check out the mune below:
