A popular fan stop in Cardiff is The Doctor Who Experience, where fans can see props and clothing from their favorite episodes. Despite a petition to stop the closing, it has been decided that the iconic experience will close its doors in September. According to the City of Cardiff Council, the building’s sublease expires this summer.
However, if you live around Cardiff, or can even get to Wales before the Experience ends, then definitely go. They have lined up a program of events for their ‘Last Summer’ from June 14 to September 9.
Special Events are to include:
- return of Filming Walking Tours around shooting locations
- restoration of classic villain ‘the Yeti’ by Mike Tucker
- Cyberman themed event with workshops, Q&As, and the chance to even become a Cyberman yourself!
- Cosplay Celebration
- Updated Season 10 exhibit
None of these special events have released dates yet. This video may give you some excitement (or make you cry) of what’s to come as the special exhibits come to an end.
For more information on how to book tickets, and information on when the certain exhibits are taking place, you can go to drwhoexperience.com. According to the their Twitter, tickets are going to start going on sale midday June 16. So get your wallets out! Money is not a factor when it comes to Doctor Who!
The Doctor Who experience has been a great way for people to get a behind-the-scenes look at Doctor Who props and costumes. In 2015, Peter Capaldi surprised fans when he popped up at the Experience, and led them around the TARDIS. He led the fans in a mini-adventure against a villain, and then did a Q&A for those who were there.
This true Doctor Who establishment is definitely going to be missed by fans and actors. Maybe we’ll be able to find another place for the Experience to happen??
