I don’t normally do Man Crush Mondays on DWW, but I’m making an exception this week. In light of the Doctor admitting that the Master/Missy was his “man crush”, I’m admitting the same. John Simm is my man crush this week, and from the looks of the audience, I’m not alone.

As we all know, Simm first appeared on Doctor Who in season three of the new era in Utopia, going on to play an amazing version of the Master. His execution of the character in that season was incredibly funny – almost silly – yet had an air of complete evil about him. Both times he appeared in David Tennant’s era was an amazing thing to watch. He stepped into the shoes of a character that had a long history and did it extremely well.
Speed up to 2017, specifically the 24th, where he returned as Missy’s previous regeneration. His characterization had completely changed. The Master was no longer silly as he did his evil deeds, he was downright chilling.
Look-wise, you can’t deny that John Simm has aged well. The Master dressed in a suit that mirrors the Doctor’s, obviously older, and with a fabulous goatee that somehow helped him look more serious. Despite knowing the drama, possibly horror, he’s going to bring to the next episode, I want as many scenes with him in them as possible.
But it’s not just physical attractiveness. After venturing out beyond Doctor Who and watching Life on Mars, I’m fascinated by his versatility. He can be comedic, he can be serious, he can be evil, and you believe all of it. There’s nothing appreciated more than someone who can play different roles, and John Simm can do it all.
So, here’s to John Simm. He’s not only attractive beyond belief (in my own humble opinion), but his talent is undeniable. Everything he does, he seems to excel, and that’s enough to make him my Man Crush this Monday.
