Nikolaj Coster-Waldau predicts “a lot of death” in Game of Thrones seasons 7 and 8

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau recently sat down with GQ to give some light teases about what’s coming on Game of Thrones and to crack wise about how Jaime Lannister acts on a date.

Let’s start with the teases. It may not be a hugely original take, but Coster-Waldau predicts that the final two seasons of the show will “end in a lot of death, I’m pretty sure of that.”

"I’ve been expecting the chop every season. I’m a bit surprised every time I get to the last page and he’s still alive."

As for how he’d like his character to go? Two words: “Jaime barbecue.” We doubt Jaime will get fried this year, but that shot of him riding across a field of fire in the second trailer for season 7 certainly has possibilities.

But the main draw here is this funny little video where the reliably droll actor reveals some personal information about everyone’s favorite kingslaying incest enthusiast. What’s his go-to outfit when not on duty? “He likes to be just naked.” How does a woman get Jaime’s attention? “You would have to be his sister.” What’s the first thing Jaime does in the morning? “He pets and polishes his stump.” Ribald!

Some other bits:

  • Coster-Waldau touches on the controversy that erupted following the scene in season 4 where Jaime and Cersei have sex next to the corpse of their son Joffrey. “It became a big hoo-ha,” he said, understating the obvious. “Those discussions, they live their own lives.”
  • Coster-Walder takes satisfaction in stuffing his real hand “wherever I [can] hide it” when it comes to wearing his prosthetic stump. This whole interview sounds dirty, doesn’t it?
