Eddison “Dolorous Edd” Tollett

History

Eddison “Dolorous Edd” Tollet is a member of the Night’s Watch and a friend to both Jon Snow and Samwell Tarly. Dour and sarcastic, Edd has traveled with those two on many of their adventures. He visited Craster’s Keep. He was present during the White Walker attack on the Fist of the First Men. He fought back the wildlings during the Battle of Castle Black and he joined Jon on his trip in Hardhome. He may not have a particularly high profile, but Edd has seen a lot over the course of the series.

Edd became more important during season 6, when he summoned the wildlings to take back Castle Black after Alliser Thorne and his followers murdered Jon Snow. Last we saw him, Jon had let him in charge of the Night’s Watch, a position Edd never thought he’d have.

Status

As the unofficial Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, Dolorous Edd will be the first to fight the White Walkers if they manage to breach the Wall. He’s also in a good position to intercept Bran and Meera on their way south. He’s a dependable ally who knows both Jon Sansa. We’ll see what, if any, use they make of him soon enough.
