HBO releases trivia questions for Game of Thrones season 5
By Dan Selcke
Over the past several weeks, HBO has been hyping Game of Thrones season 7 by releasing trivia questions for seasons 1-6. This week, it threw up several themed around season 5, complete with a spiffy new look. Are you a Game of Thrones trivia master? Test your mettle on these bad boys:
"1. What is located “up at Storrold’s Point”?2. Shireen tells Davos about two people buried in the Winterfell crypt — who are they?3. How many times is Jon stabbed when he is murdered at Castle Black?4. What does Sansa place in the hand of Lyanna Stark’s statue?5. What name do the wildlings call Jon Snow?6. How old was the youngest Lord Commander in history when elected?6a. What was his name?"
You know, you spend a lot of time reading and watching and thinking about Game of Thrones, but some of these stumped me dead. Who counts the number of times Jon Snow was stabbed? I remembered what the wildlings called him, though.
Anyway, share your answers on social media using the hashtag #PrepareForWinter to earn fabulous prizes. Just kidding. You stand to earn “recognition in the realm.”
Game of Thrones-themed quizzes are proliferating like crazy as the premiere approaches — TIME, Quartz, and HBO Nordic have all drummed up their own tests, with HBO Nordic’s gaining a reputation for being particularly sadistic. The Evening Standard has put together a test claiming to be the “hardest-ever,” but you can judge that for yourself.
Naturally, HBO is releasing these question sets to get people to rewatch the series ahead of its return on July 16. On Monday, the final set — about season 6 — will come out, and then there will be almost nothing standing between the fandom and season 7. Oh happy day.
