Jimmy Kimmel debuts Kit Harington’s original “audition tape,” and other Game of Thrones funnies

Game of Thrones season 7 is rocketing toward us at an alarming speed, and the internet is bubbling over with parodies, recaps, and other funnies. We have to start with Kit Harington’s appearance last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he showed off his…uh…just watch.

Well, that’s destined to go viral. I can’t choose a favorite impression. “I’m a widdle girl who acts like a widdle boy and I’m a killer wid my widdle sword!”

Elsewhere, The Warp Zone put together a terrific recap of the first six seasons of Game of Thrones. It’s not the first rap recap we’ve seen, but they’re always appreciated when done well.

Staying in the land of YouTube, IISuperwomanII made an elaborate video casting herself in various roles from the show. That’s going around.

UPDATE: It looks like IISuperwomanII is planning a series of these — her Jon Snow-themed diss track went up today.

Other than rhyming “king” with “Tommen,” this was a lot of fun.

“This looks like a giant praying mantis!” You have no idea.

Finally, and this is a big one, to promote the return of the show, Sky Atlantic staged a huge stunt where an actors dressed as the Night King traveled south from Hadrian’s Wall, the landmark on which George R.R. Martin based the Wall in Game of Thrones. Check out some shots!

Before long, the Night King was joined by four of his White Walker lieutenants. They soon reached

London, and no one was safe.

I love the guy in purple shoes in the above photo. I feel like something weird is happening behind me, he’s thinking. But I can’t be sure.

Sky included some quotes from cast members with its press release. Have a taste:

  • Rory McCann (Sandor “The Hound” Clegane): “This season everyone needs to join forces and fight the White Walkers. Because if they don’t… everyone’s getting it.”
  • Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran): “They are sworn enemies from the first day of time, the Three-Eyed Raven and the Night King. Bran knows better than anyone the terror and fear that they should all be feeling with this threat looming over them. All that matters is the Great War.”

And Zai Bennett, Sky’s Director of Programmes, summarized why fans should be excited for the return of the show.

"It may be summer in the UK, but after six seasons, winter has finally arrived in Westeros. With Jon Snow crowned King in the North, Cersei on the Iron Throne, Daenerys Targaryen and her colossal armada crossing the seven seas to Westeros and the Night King moving south at the helm of a truly terrifying army of the dead, the greatest battles are truly ahead of us. With this in mind it seemed fitting to unleash our very own troop of White Walkers on locations across the UK."

But this was just a stunt. When season 7 begins, the threat will be very real…in a completely made-up way.
