The Doctor Who panel took place today in legendary Hall H, with a full panel of actors from season 10, talking about the Doctor Who Christmas Special.

More from Winter is Coming

Peter Capaldi, Pearl Mackie, Matt Lucas, Michelle Gomez, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss were all there to discuss the final episode, the Doctor Who Christmas Special, named Twice Upon a Time. While it might look odd to see some of these names, it soon made sense.

During the panel, the main event discussed wasn’t the thirteenth doctor, but the Christmas Special — Twelve’s last episode. The clip shown during the panel gave many new surprises and questions to contemplate while waiting until Christmas.

But first, let’s take a look at the clip released at Comic Con, and then let’s talk about what we saw. (Trust me, you’ll want to.)

Now that you watched that, let’s talk about what we’ve noticed. The Christmas episode will be named Twice Upon a Time and will focus on what happens when two regenerations get stuck in a moment of time.

First and foremost, hello Bill!

A couple weeks ago, The Mirror confirmed Jenna Coleman would be making an appearance during the Christmas special. However, we heard nothing regarding Pearl Mackie, who we now know will be in the episode. Good job, BBC, you continue to keep us on our toes!

What does this mean for the companion? We’ll find out. In The Doctor Falls, it seemed like Mackie would go off with Heather and that was it. Many people were upset at the lack of time Mackie got on Doctor Who. While she will get her Christmas special, like all companions normally do, she confirmed during the panel this would be her last episodes.

Mark Gatiss is back!

Mark Gatiss has made multiple appearances in Doctor Who throughout the New Era. He played Lazarus in The Lazarus Experiment, The Wedding of River Song and was also heard in A Good Man Goes To WarHe also, of course, plays Mycroft in Sherlock, which Moffat also pens.

To see him in the Christmas Special is a great surprise for all fans of the writer/actor. He hasn’t been seen since the Eleventh Doctor, but bringing in a good friend for Moffat’s final episode is a great way to say goodbye.

A treat for Classic Who fans

Obviously, this episode serves as a huge treat for Classic Who fans, as the First Doctor and the Twelfth Doctor unite. But the special showed more — it also looks like the Classic companion Polly will be in the episode, in a remake of how the regeneration happened during A Tenth Planet.

We obviously have a lot to cover and speculate about until Christmas, but this is a great treat. What are you most excited about for the Christmas special?
