Each week, HBO gives fans a closer look at some of the props from the latest episode on its Making Game of Thrones blog. This week, it showed off some props from “Stormborn.” Check ’em out below.
First up, HBO gave fans a close-up of the letter Jorah was writing Daenerys before Sam came in and cut his flesh off. For medicine.
"Khaleesi, I came to the Citadel in the last hope that the maesters could treat me, as you ordered. Even all their arts, I am beyond any cure but the grave. I have had a longer life than I deserved, and I only wish I could’ve lived to see the world you’re going to build, standing by your side. I have loved you since the moment I met you."
For some reason, I didn’t expect Jorah to use so many contractions. But whatever.
The letter is typically gooey, as we’d expect from someone as head-over-heels in love with Daenerys as Jorah. Good thing Sam caught Jorah (with a blade in the pectorals) before he sent it off.
In another post, HBO showed off some of the dragon head props with which Cersei interacted (read: shot through the face) when she visited the catacombs beneath the Red Keep.
The skulls began life as 3D sculptures made by the art department and ended up as polystyrene carvings made by the construction department. “We have a sheep’s skull in our workshop to look at how the surface texture looks,” said head sculptor Darren Fitzsimons. “We try to bring everything back into reality using references from the real world.”

According to Fitzsimons, the enormous skull for Balerion the Dread was “about 30 feet long, 11 feet high and 16 feet wide.” Hopefully it’ll show up again. To see more shots of the skulls, head here.
Finally, take a look at the full letter that Tyrion wrote to Jon:
"Queen Daenerys Targaryen, First of Her Name, invites you to Dragonstone. My queen commands the combined forces of Dorne and the Reach, and Ironborn fleet, legions of Unsullied, a Dothraki horse and three dragons. The Seven Kingdoms will bleed as long as Cersei sits on the Iron Throne. Join us. Together we can end her tyranny. I appeal to you, one bastard to another, for all dwarves are bastards in their father’s eyes."
I note that Tyrion spared Jon all of Daenerys’ titles (good) and doesn’t use the Oxford comma (good or bad depending on who you ask).
