HBO’s new promo for “The Queen’s Justice” reveals Randyll Tarly’s choice

Game of Thrones returns tonight with “The Queen’s Justice,” and HBO has released a new Facebook promo. Before we go any further, know that it has SPOILERS.
The teaser answers a question posed by last week’s episode: will Randyll Tarly, Sam’s father, betray Lady Olenna and join the Lannisters’ in their fight against Daenerys Targaryen? Watch the clip below.

As we can see, Jaime rides at the head of the Lannister army, with Randyll and Dickon Tarly behind him. The Tarlys have clearly forsaken House Tyrell, whom they have been loyal to for centuries — they even fought alongside the Targaryens during Robert’s Rebellion. Interestingly, we don’t see any Tarly banners in the ranks, but it’s a big army.

House Tarly switching sides continues a trend of a ruling house’s primary bannermen betraying their liege lords (or liege ladies, in Lady Olenna’s case). House Bolton betrayed House Stark, while the Tullys betrayed House Frey. Clearly, Jaime’s point regarding Daenerys invading with “foreign savages” hit home with Randyll. His offer to make him Warden of the South couldn’t have hurt, either.
Between Euron Greyjoy and Randyll Tarly, Cersei has managed to secure a surprisingly large number of allies. Perhaps she’ll manage to hang onto the Iron Throne after all.
