Game of Thrones Screencap Breakdown: “Eastwatch”
By Corey Smith
Sansa is meeting with the lords of the North, who are ready to name her as Queen in the North since Jon has been on vacation a couple days longer than they’d like.
Arya observes from the back of the hall, clearly not liking what she sees.
Sansa politely turns down the offer, but was clearly tempted. Also, note the awesome direwolves inset in the fire place behind her.
The two Stark sisters walk down the hall.
Maybe it was the offer, but Sansa is looking especially royal in this sequence.
Arya calls Sansa out on her desire to be queen, and Sansa is not having it. Arya also suggests executing the other Northern lords for their insurrection — her cold look is chilling.
Back at King’s Landing, Davos is smuggling Tyrion ashore so he can meet with Jaime.
The city looks impressive from this smuggler’s cove. We can’t make them out, but we’re guessing those are Lannister flags on the battlements.
Davos and Tyrion are off, each on their own mission.
Bronn and Jaime are hanging out in subterranean area with all the dragon skulls. This place has been popular this season.
Bronn has arranged a meeting with Tyrion, and Jaime clearly does not appreciate the surprise:
His face is pure rage, and we love it.
Tyrion, on the other hand, looks more pleading, and ends up his murder of Tywin. But his logic only makes Jaime angrier. We love the shame and humiliation Peter Dinklage emits here.
But in the end, it looks like Jaime at least hears Tyrion out.
Elsewhere in the city, Ser Davos is headed for the Street of Steel, looking for a friend who was lost at sea.
Love all the shots of the armor being made.
Who’s he here to see?
The kings and queens play their game of thrones, but the common folk just keep livin’.
Gendry! He’s looking pretty lithe, despite all the time spent at the forge.
Davos examines the fruits of Gendry’s labors as he works his way up to asking Gendry to join him.
Gendry is like “Cool, when do we leave? Also, look at my overly large hammer.” And Davos had his whole argument planned…
Davos and Gendry back at the boat.
Two guards approach, and Gendry hides his hammer.
Davos uses a bribe to get out of the situation, and shows the guards some knock-off Viagra prove that he really is just an ordinary smuggler, not a usurper.
But then Tyrion shows up, and the whole plan goes to hell. Tyrion makes a good attempt at explaining away his scar, though.
As the two guards decide what to do, Gendry proposes his won solution: death by hammer.
The devil is in the details, and in this shot, the detail is a spray of blood from Gendry’s hammer. Tyrion doesn’t even seem to notice what’s going on.
Bloody, but we expected worse from the size of that hammer.
Back to Cersei’ chambers, where Qyburn is hanging out again. If he was younger and better-looking and not so incredibly creepy, Jaime might actually be jealous.
At least Cersei’s not drinking this time. That will be important in a second.
Still looking like a Star Trek villain, though.
After hearing Jaime out, Cersei reveals the reason for Qyburn’s many visits: Cersei is pregnant with Jaime’s child.
Jaime is stunned.
Stunned but happy, which we’re guessing comes as a relief to Cersei.
Of course, Cersei can’t help but ruin the moment by implying that Jaime betrayed her by meeting with Tyrion.
And Jaime is back to wondering why the hell he sticks around.
